We are exp a problem with configuring BE 11d to backup to a Dell PV TL2000 23 slot Libary that uses LTO 4 type tapes with an electronic Bar code label. I’m going to try an put as much info as possible.
-We have a Dell PV TL2000 Library with 23 slots.
-the Libary uses LTO 4 types tapes with a bar code type label.
-We are able to see the electronic label/sig for each tape in each slot via the web interface for the Library=scanning and inventory works.
-The Library is connected via scsi to a Dell PE 2900 running Windows server 2003 enterprise /sp2 with Backup Exec 11d.
-The library is installed and recognized in Device Manage and BE as an IBM LTO library.
-Whats strange is that in BE under Devices, if u select, ibm , ->ibm1,then Slots, all 23 slots are listed but the status is empty.??? what gives???
-If we attempt to execute a scan or inventory of any of the slots via BE it fails or runs for 4 hours or more..
-Pls HELP,,we haven’t had a backup of our data in 2 weeks.
-fyi: while i have tried to RTFM i’m still confused and my experience is limited to BE 8.6 / & PV 122T type tape drives
