Best method for Server Room Air Circulation??

by bonowski . Updated 16 years, 3 months ago

Hey everyone.

I just purchased 2 – 20″ Air Circulators (they’re pretty powerful). I’m trying to set them up the best possible way in the server room.

Here are the server room specs to help paint a picture:

15ft x 20ft…not too much open space.
3 Rows of Racks (6 Cabinets each)
Row 1 = patch panels
Row 2 = about 40 devices (servers/switches/arrays)
Row 3 = about 25 – 30 devices

Row 1 virtually has no exhaust blowing to Row 2.
Row 2 has a lot blowing to Row 3.
Row 3 blows exhaust to the wall.

Every Air Conditioner vent is near the ceiling.
(I think there’s about 6 vents between 2 Units)
As I said before, I have 2 – 20″ Air Circulators

The warmest parts of the room are the aisle between Row 2 & 3 (it is the warmest part) and the corner of the room behind Row 3.

I want to get the hot air out of those areas, but get the AC air from the top moving around better.

I’ve been trying things out and just having the temperature on the sensors go up…not what I wanted.

Anyone have any ideas of how I should arrange these air circulators? Do I need another one?

Thanks in advance!
