This is a Corporate Users NB with a Separate Security Chip

That contains the Password that the user sets.

As this is specially designed to prevent bypassing passwords your only option is to take the NB to a Specialist IBM/Lenovo Service Centre and pay them to remove the Password by erasing the Security Chip.

There is no other way around this and back when they where used commercially it was quite common for peeved off workers who had their employment terminated to insert a Password and refuse to hand it over when they returned the NB effectively rendering the Note Book useless to the business. The HDD is also locked by the Power On Password and it's not possible to even access any data on the HDD unless the Security Chip on the M'Board is cleared.

Your only way forward here is to get the person who set the Password to give it to you or to take the unit to a Authorized IBM/Lenovo Service Centre.

Uness you want to mess around with a bread board and some components, (there is a way to clear it but you need to take access the motherboard, buy your self some resistors and a chip , connect it all together and pray you dont fry the Notebook when you attempt to clear the password.

The only answer here is to enter the Password and then delete it.

These IBM NB's where specially built to prevent thieves making money off them. Hence you enter a Power On Password you need it to remove the Password or use the Computer.

This was a common thing for Peeved off Ex=workers to do enter a Power On Password and then hand back the NB without the Password rendering the NB useless to it's owner the company who fired them. There is a special Security Chip built onto the M'Board that is not subject to a Loss of power.

If you do not have the Password with these units your only choice is to take the NB to a Authorized IBM/Lenovo Service Centre and pay them to remove the Password. No way around it I'm afraid.
