Bios failure, no startup

By cookie ·
I tried to install a bios update, and when it failed I reset. Now I have power lights but it will not start up. It does not recognize the dvd player so I would need an executable file for the a: drive that contained the neccessary files. Does anyone know what files i would need and where to get them

I would recommend checking with your motherboard manufacturer and seeing if they have a startup disk that will run and repair/restore the BIOS. I have done this on a few systems in the past (most recently on a friends wife's machine - I told him he better toast me at subsequent anniversaries).

Just make sure you get and *explicitly* follow the instructions...

Good luck...hope this helps!

Check the docmentation that came with your motherboard. Some have a jumper/switch that need to be set to reset the BIOS. Before you run out and buy a new board try going to a Mon and Pop computer store and have them check out the motherboard
