Locked

Bios Password

By dn011 ·
I inherited a Dell Inspiron 4000 Laptop, it has a primary/administrator password enabled. The problem is the previous owner has taken the password with him to the spirit realm. I have tried removing the reserve battery as suggested by Dell to no avail. Any suggestions? Please!!

The only suggestion Dell would have asked is the registration information and then they would have given you a "backdoor" password into the bios. As dell laptop bios passwords are burned into the eeprom, not affected by removing the battery.

You can search the web for dell laptop bios passwords, or actually contact Dell for that information.

Those are your only 2 options.

Good luck

Like it or not. Go read about the new security features.

If the password does not let the machine access the floppy before the password is entered even the password cracks will not work.

Your only hope, usless you can provide Dell with the buyers information:

Pay to have the security chip replaced.

Try the bios backdoor passwords listed on the two above sites.

Oh Yea! Most bios will lock you out completely after so many failed attempts.

Good Luck
