By osacorp ·
Can i activate my blakberry device on a my company corporate network without subscribing to a BlackBerry Data service plan or any service provider. I bought my device without a provider service plan.

My BB device is not activating after installing BES server on separate server machine from my Microsoft exchange server. It keep on returning this message: Activation request failed. a connection service unavailable.

Please can somebody help me out.

No you need to subscribe to some kind of Carrier Plan as the device can not make a connection without being active.

by osacorp In reply to In answer to your questio ...

Pls dont be offended with my many questions. I now got a carier account and i am trying to activate my device using Blackberry desktop manager activation. During the process all the massage on my device was erase but there was no email syn on my device. however, the activation email sent from BES didnt get to my exchange mailbox. the desktop manager seem to recognise my device but it is not activating.

Pls what do i do or what i am missing.

Thank you

Verizon specifically has an enterprise plan

On top of the data plan, i believe there is a $15 charge for the enterprise plan. I would confirm with your carrier that you are on the right plan to get started on your BES. I know it sucks, but you got to play ball.

1 Check with your carrier you have access to the right plan.

2 Submit a PIN to PIN message from either a customer service rep or another blackberry to ensure you are on the data network

3 Try to reset your password on the BES, and retry enterprise activation.

I've never used desktop manager activation outside of BES 3.6 (version might be off) because it's now all over the air activations/syncing since then.
