blank monitor

By nikharkashyap ·
My pc was working fine until yesterday.(Intel celeron) Did not add any software or update any drivers. When i switch on the power button, only the red LED comes on, the green LED does not switch on as it used to and therefore the PC does not boot up. The monitor does not switch on. Shows nothing on the screen, not even a prompt. No beeps either. I suspected powersupply, tried a differnt working power supply, still only see the red LED. Do you think the motherboard could be dead? any insight would be appreciated.

First check by listening to fan on the cpu is running to determine if the system is getting power.

Check the Memory modules to make sure they are seated properly
Difficult to say or pinpoint if this a direct result of a dead motherboard,so check the BIOS configuration to make sure the CPU and Bus speed are set properly

It could be that your hard drive is dead. Usually the green light is for the hard activity.

Possible bad Video Card. Try removing the card and re-installing.

do u have a pci nic card on the board? if yes, you may want to try and remove it too. encounter before, and it was due to a faulty nic card. almost burnt my motherboard.

or you may want to remove all added cards and h/w.
