Boot error log files in XP Pro

By Terry_V ·
I am having major problems getting my computer to start. On startup just when I expect the windows user logon it flashes a blue screen with writing for a split second then I hear a click and it reboots. Have tried F8 boot ,all options just does the same thing. I can get it to boot into the repair consol using the 6 disk floppy set made from the prog downloaded from microsoft who call it a setup prog.
I can acess my hard drive and move and copy files etc. with the consol but I don't know where to find the boot error log or whatever, or how to do a manual system recovery.

type "sys c:" without the quotes at the prompt when you insert the XP boot disk. sys c: will bring back all three cumpulsory files back if corrupted.
If this does not work type "FIXMBR" without the quotes in the recovery console. This will rid the master boot record of any virus.

Well you haven't really answered my question and your answer didn't help so sorry no points. I did get it fixed but never have found any error log that will tell me what I was looking for. My problem was with the registry, not the boot.

Will using the sys command or the FIXMBR command wipe all myother files? I think that my problem is caused by a software problem, not related to the system files.
