Breaking into the Finance sector

By happy ·
How can I gain enough of the "right" experience,to be able to break into a Support role for a Financial institution or for a Stocks and Shares fund etc.
Currently I have 5 years IT (Support) experience mainly in the Retail sector.
Ideally in the UK but not really important.

I did it once, but I'm not sure how. I did have a lot of experience in Cobol, but I had, except for a week, been unemployed for 68 months; that week had included my first mainframe IBM work.

While experience is important, for a job in the financial sector, you greatly improve your prospects if you can talk the talk.

Your best option, is to add a business degree to your resume. An MBA degree would really stand out.
