broadcasting system wide messages

By The R00kie ·
I would like to be able to broadcast system wide messages in a windows server 2003 environment across our WAN. All the remote locations are on a always on vpn and part of the same domain.

A simple window that took focus with a short message and a ok button would suffice. However, a more robust solution would be nice too. I can not afford any enterprise solutions either btw.

Any suggestions?

One Free Solution

Here's a freeware program that might do the trick. It's called QuickMessenger:
http://pages.videotron.com/mmoose/

It uses the Net send command to send messages to one or more workstations. Here's more info on Net Send: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/net_send.mspx?mfr=true

I hope this helps. Please let me know.
