Browsing problem with win2k member serv.

By mderome ·
I'm having the following browsing problems with an Win 2K member server in a NT 4 domain.

When using tcp/ip, you can't see in network neighborhood the win 2k box. And on the win 2k box you browse My Network Places and you only see the win 2k box. None of the 25 boxes in the network appear (Mostly WIN NT4 workstation systems.

The environment of the domain is the following.

1 PDC winnt 4 Static IP address 192.168.100.x address, subnet. Also is the primary wins server and dns server.

1 BDC Winnt 4 Static IP address 192.168.100.x address, subnet. Secondary Wins sever.

1 WINNT 4 server acting as firewall and gateway. Static IP address 192.168.100.x address, subnet for the card on the internal network.

1 WINNT 4 member server Static IP address 192.168.100.x
address, subnet

1 WIN 2000 K server member of Domain with Static IP address in subnet . DNS pointing to PDC.

Added in the WINS server all static addresses.

Ping works fine, Name resolution works correctly.

The only way I'M able to see the win 2k server in network neighborhood is to ad NETBEUI protocol on all machines. Did I overlook something?

I tried everything but to no avail. Un-installed the protocols and re- installed them. Installed SP1 on wn 2k machines. Tried enabling netbios over tcp/ip, disable netbios over tcp/ip.

Is there a compatibility issue here between the wint 4 machines and the win 2k machine?
