Business Blueprinting

By ct1147 ·
Unisys is announcing its new Business Blueprinting, "a comprehensive consulting, development and delivery strategy that builds digital models that link business processes to the software and systems that support them."

This new offering will let clients visualize how strategic changes would affect not only IT infrastructure, but also the business itself. It will help eliminate functional redundancy in multiple systems whether they are legacy, Web based, etc. IBM and Microsoft are partneringwith Unisys on this project, so it will be a major initiative that could have far-reaching effects on the way IT works. I'd love to hear this board's thoughts on Business Blueprinting.

Good if clients will use it.

A master blueprint (an enterprise model) is a very useful tool, particularly if it well documents the vision (to meet all corporate strategic goals) as well as links it to the current environment), and is used to select projects for the future, develop projects that advance the overall systems environment, as flexibility (and other) requirements on all development, has strong executive support, and is kept current.

It will take people who know the organization's systems as well as the business to work with the consultants and they must play a significant part in the effort.
