Can bordermanager do this?

By James Szabadics ·
Situation is this.. I work for a medium sized business with a larger parent business.

Larger business has cisco firewall IOS router in front of bordermanager proxy. We have registered a domain name and would now like to configure mail such that we have users@ourdomain.com however bordermanager is already acting as a e-mail proxy for theirdomain.com mail addresses. The larger company IT staff tell me that Bordermanager can only act as a mail proxy for 1 domain - Is this true - if not how do you configure Bordermanager for multiple e-mail domain proxy???

You're question is not the first on this matter. It is true that BM 3.5's Mail proxy will only handle ONE domain. That is strait from Novell, from advanced Border Manager training I took a couple of weeks ago. They explained to me that the Mail Proxy is about the weakest part of BM in general. The next version of BM is supposed to handle multiple mail domains. What to do in the mean time? That is a tough question in your situation. It looks like you may be forced to skip using BM proxy servicesfor this mail task, and somehow configure filters which will allow what ever mail traffic you need through, from the other Domain, while keeping the one BM mail proxy active, till the upgrade arrives.
Good luck to you!..
