I have an old IBM 8187 d3u/ M50 that currently has the 2.66 cpu in it. All my son wants to do is play some “newer” games. We’re not talking Crysis or anything. Everything is original but the ram? that has had an upgrade from 512 to 2 GB. I have upgraded the video card as well and am running into a bottleneck with the cpu (not surprised). This 2.66 is not HT. Can I put in a 3.4 P4 with HT in this without an issue? It does have the i865 bridge which I was pretty sure supported the speed, fsb and the HT but I just want to make sure.
If not. How far can I push it.
