Oh, here I am, thrown out of the safety and security [i](and stability)[/i] of a linux environment and into the world of Windows servers.
I have a buffet of OS’s to deal with here (all server) Win2k, win2003, and win2008.
The 2003 has a DAT72, but is can not backup the systems AND the data due to size constraints, but it is working for now.
My concern, the other two servers don’t HAVE a tape backup, and the one on the 03 is an internal drive.
There is not any real data that changes on the other two, so all I care about is being able to recover without having to reconfigure.
I know people use Ghosting technology for loading systems, but does anyone use this as a way to recover their systems?
I did some googling but was only finding sales crap, and not real life information of people doing this.
Will this work? If so, got a good link you can recommend?
If not, can you recommend another good option?
I have a company also that is going to provide me with a managed tapeless system that is suppose to via virtulization, within 20 minutes of a failure, setup and run a virtual server. ($300 a month). Is that typical or overpriced?
