Cannot connect to shared or unshared folder

By hpum ·
HELP! I'm trying to connect to a folder that is shared on the server but does not show as shared in my workstation. I can connect to other shares in the \\server\ that I have NTFS permissions. I keep getting system error 53 "network path not found" when I try to connect to that folder using the net use command. I have modify permissions. Even the administrator is getting the same error when he logs to it with his username/password, so we suspect its got to do with the file path name. I doubled check the sharename on the server and made sure it was correct.

Permissions

Check both sets of permisions, share and local. If you are not in both of them, you will not be able to acces it. Based on the fact that the administrator cannot access it, sounds like the permisions need to be reset. Can you open the folder locally on the server?
