Cannot Detect my router

By z_nziramasanga ·
I currently have a wireless LAN network but the problem is that my computer doesnt detect my router signal. is it because of the type of network i have (Netgear) or am i doing something wrong? At the moment all the ports for the wired network have been used up could this be the problem?

What.....

by dawgit In reply to Cannot Detect my router

...are you useing to 'find' the router wirelessly?
...are you useing the same wireless prodocall? (802.11- a? /b? /g? ect.) (are both devices from the same country?)
...the physical, are you in range? Are there obstructions?
...could there be other devices (other peoples wireless) interfering with yours? (common in Germany)
edited to add:
Did you 'set-up' the router to allow a wireless conection, (through a cable connection)? It could be set 'not' to allow a wireless connection for better security.

How is the router setup?

by w2ktechman In reply to Cannot Detect my router

And what protocol is being used?

Can their be any interference, like from a 2.4 Ghz, wireless phone?
Is the router setup for wireless?
It does not matter if the physical ports are full. But, their are many things that need to be done. Some manufacturers wireless will not work unless you change the default SSID (which is recommended anyway).
Please give more details on the wireless setup so that we can help
