Why are you partioning a RAID drive? Kinda defeats the RAID setup.

try one partition on the drive and then do a RAID setup.

If you want to transfer data, do it on a IDE channel, not the RAID channel.

i told you i have a raid-board but i did not use raid. tip is great anyhow.
i am working too hard.... i forgot that my second hdd is win2k! so winme fat 32 cannot see it.
any how two different scenarios remains:
1. can i use the raid-channels without using raid? just use 4 drives, each on one channel.
2. can i change to raid later when i have already used one drive by mirroring to a third one, then prepairing first and second drive, then mirroring back?

Yes, NTFS cannot be seen on a Win 9x machine. We all get those ?duh? to often.

1. Your MSI board has separate RAID channels and IDE channels. So set up the drive(2) on the IDE channel(s).

2. The manual states that only two drives will have RAID function. The way I see it, you can set up one drive each as master on each RAID channel.

3. You can do ?regular? hard drives setup on the IDE channels, later set up a pair of drives on the RAID channels, as mirroring or striped, and then migrate data.

Hi Michael,

Here is a link to a utility that WILL allow Windows 98 / Me to read NTSF volumes.

to be more precise, i must test a 13 gb-drive. i have now winme on my athlon. but i think it doesnt matter which windows is on the masterdrive if bios cannot see secondary master, right. what can i do else to see this drive. maybe send to seagate (its st313021a)13 gb. there is a udma-tool at seagate. but it does not matter in this situation. if yes how should i use it. put on my first drive, assuming drive to test is empty? very strange situation. drive is running but bios cannot detect it. next i will try with manual settings and as single master.
