In reply to cant detect my cdrom
I need more details to help you out–I’m not 100% clear about what “faults” you’ve been correcting, what OS you’re using, etc–but here are some things to look at.
First, what happens when you boot up normally? Can you boot the machine withoutgoing into safe mode? If so, what happens when you try to access the CDROM? Do you have any reason to think the hardware might be damaged?
There are two ways you can check whether the CD rom is working, from a mechanical/electronic POV. First, you could put it into another computer; second, you could boot in DOS, using MSCDEX. That’s the MicroSoft (MS) CD Extension (EX). Doing that involves adding this line to your asutoexec.bat file in DOS:
lh mscdex.exe /d:mscd001
and adding this line to your config.sys:
device=a:mscdex.exe /d:mscd001.
You will also have to put mscdex.exe on your boot-up disk. And you may need other device drivers as well; they have names like aspi2dos.sys, aspi4dos.sys, aspi8dos.sys, btdosm.sys, flashpt.sys, and a few others.
Try what I suggested above, and also, post precise details of your problem, and I’ll try to help you, if I can.
