Can't get domain to resolve using www

By swsllc ·
I'm new to server administration, and am setting up my domain on a dedicated server using Windows Server 2003 Web Edition. I have gotten the site to resolve when I type "mysite.com", but it does NOT work when I type "www.mysite.com"

Any idea how I get the www to work? Thanks.

I had someone else try the site, and they can get it to resolve using www. So, it is just my home computer that won't work I guess. Any idea why this might be happening? Odd.

Hi there,

Youve probably already tried this, but have you run: "ipconfig /flushdns" from cmd?

In DNS, the "www" is a separate CNAME record, so it's likely that whatever DNS server you are using for your home system doesn't have this record. If your server is set up with DNS on it and if it's set to use itself as a DNS server, then this is probably the reason.

Hope this helps!
