Can't get into high security web site

By jcschultz ·
I have online banking and can access my bank's web site on 2 other computers, but not my home system. The 2 other computers are running Win98 and Windows ME. All computers are using Internet Explorer 5.5 with add on tools. My system is not loading the whole page and simply says "Error on Page" when I enter my ID and password then click on Enter to get to the next page. Everything looks like a Java script error. I have set all the Advanced brower settings to the same settings as the other machines and have completely re-installed I.E. 5.5. Any help would be appreciated. The new system is running Windows ME.

I don't know if this may be a solution but some online banks require a certificate which can be located in Tools/Options/Content and certificate check the 3 machines to see if there is a certificate installed, if so you will need to contact your bank, as copying/exporting the certificate does not always work.

Open your browser and click the help menu, select About Internet Explorer, check the security encryption and verify that it is the same as the other machines.Upgrade the encryption to 128.
Also you may want to check Internet Options, click on the advanced tab,go down to the HTTP section and see if the second box is checked to connect thru proxy server, uncheck this box if it is.Hope this Helps

If you are under firewall, you are unlikely to access that at work.

The only thing I can add to the previous answers is to clear your internet cache. Sometimes heavy net usage can result in a large number of files in the cache and they conflict with each other. Your site may be providing some kind of object that ie is trying to cache, but it's "already there" from another site. Try emptying the cache (deleting temporary internet files) and try lowering your security settings as well. It may be trying to put something there for you that your browser is not allowing it to.

I've seen through the other responses you've gotten, and I can only mention one other thing for you to do. There has been some problems with some of the IE releases regarding this process. Use the "Windows Update" function in your IE/Tools-menu, or through the Start-menu in Win98, and update your system to the newest files. This will ensure you to have the correct files for the 128-bit security. If you try this and the above solutions, I would be surprised if you wouldn't get trough.

(But ifit still doesn't work, drop me a line, I'm curious..:)
