can't increase res/ colors can change

By Casemaker ·
Hi,
I have a computer running win 95. the client reported that all of a sudden everything on the monitor got larger. The font in a dos program appears in different sizes on different locations of the screen. I go to the settings and am able to change the colors from high 24 to 256 but the slide for the resolution is grayed out. Will this be drivers only or if still not correct after new drivers would I look at video card or monitor/
Thanks
Mark

The next thing you need to do is reload the video drivers after downloading from the manufacturers web site

Reload the windows video drivers for that video card, if you can still find the manufacturer you can try to get updated drivers from there. You could try the belarc advisor from belarc.com to get the info on the card/motherboard. Whens the last time the case was blown out? How many dust bunnies are accumulating? Older computers start to fail for a number of reasons from settled dust to just plain old wearing out parts. Good Luck!

Soulrider is dead on. Once you've verified system integrity, download the latest srivers for your card and install them. You may need to re-install direct X as well...some cards (like the RAGE 3Ds etc) need direct X drivers to work correctly.

Good luck...hope this helps!
