Here’s a weird one!
A Win98 (1st ed) user is having trouble installing Norton Systemworks from the original CD. Message comes up “Cannot find file F:\NCDSTART.EXE. Make sure path/file are correct…..”, but I’m looking right at it in Explorer. I can also see it in a DOS box but get “Bad Command or file name” when trying to start. One clue is that Explr properties shows a length of zero while the DOS dir shows about 430K. The README.TXT file on the CD shows similar results but Notepad can readthe .INFs in the same direcotry OK!!! I tried to XCOPY to C: and it copied a few files and then hung at the EXE. We’ve done many CD installs on this machine and this CD installs fine on other machines. We have zero problems with all other applications on this machine so I dont think its a virus. Could Explorer have an internal path problem? just guessing. HELP!!!
