can't log into domain

By corliss_blackmon ·
Windows XP, SP2
I am assisting the IT administrator, who at present is away at a conference. I was left the task of adding computers to the domain. While adding one, I received a msg. stating that the name was already in use. Upon advice of the administrator, I took the computer out of the domain and put it in a workgroup, restarted the computer logged back into the workstation and put the computer back on the domain, the name was accepted but when logging in I am given two choices;
Log into Workstation
Log into Domain
I can log into the workstation but not the domain.

Help!!!

It's important when asking questions that you explain what you tried and why it didn't work. Presumably you get an error when you try to log on to the domain. What was that error? Did you Google it? And have you checked the event log on that computer for other related errors? Also, does the error happen after entering the credentials, or does it happen when choosing the domain name from the drop down?
