Can't remote desktop into computer

By McIntyreM ·
I'm having a problem with a computer. I went to the properties of My Computer and activated remote desktop and remote assistance, and then specified who is allowed to access the computer. I then went to my DHCP server and specified a static IP address. This computer is not receiving any group policy settings that are restricting this computer. However, when I try to remote desktop into it, VNC to it, or ping it, the computer cannot be found. When I actually sit down at this computer, I can access my network, ping other computers, access the Internet, etc. Can anyone help me determine what's wrong with this computer? Thanks.

Firewall

What OS are you running and are you using a
firewall on the computer your are trying to
connect to? I would check your firewall
settings if you have one to make sure it
isn't blocking incoming connections.

Firewall

Wow, what's wrong with me. I checked the windows firewall and it wasn't allowing any exceptions. When I removed this checkmark and verified that Remote Desktop was allowed, it worked. Why didn't I think of that. Thank you very much.

IP address coincides with DHCP

by McIntyreM In reply to IP Address

Yes, I have verified this fact and the computer's IP is what it's supposed to be.
