cause of lockups

by ngen255 . Updated 22 years, 8 months ago

Hi, I was wondering if any of you could figure out why my system keeps locking up. This only occurs when I play a computer game or watch a video file, yet I don’t believe it is my video card because I just replaced it and it is still having problems. Right now I have the case cover off, but when I have it on the computer will freeze at other times, not just when playing a game or watching a video. Also, I find that if I turn up my air conditioning to it’s highest setting than my computer will not freeze, causing me to think it’s some sort of overheating problem?… Having the ac on full blast in the middle of winter isn’t very desirable for me…
My system specs are:
AMD Duron 800 Mhz
384 mb RAM
NVidia GeForceFX 5200 (old one was Nvidia TNT2)
Windows XP Pro
FIC AZ11 motherboard
