If the problem started immediatly after the lens cleaning, the cleaned damaged the CDROM, and the only cure is replacement.
New CDROMs cost $30 around here.
IF not, then the next is the IDE cable working itself loose.
The next thing: check that there is a lastdrive statement if you have more than 3 drives. (Includes CDROMs, CDRs, etc as well as HDs.)
This can also be a Windows Registry problem.
Unfortunatly, the test for this is to reload the OS.

It could be that the disk you are trying to access has been corrupted in some way,Try another disk.
I would also check the CD-Rom entry in the device manager, found in system properties to see if it is running correctly(according to device manager)ie, no yellow circles with ! in etc.
Here's hoping that it's just a corrupt disk.

You might need to re-install the IDE bus-master driver for the motherboard / chipset.

I have seen numerous software installations and updates corrupt the IDE driver.

If you are unsure, start by removing the IDE controllers from device manager.
Then, allow Windows to re-install the drivers when you re-boot.

If that doesn't fix it, try identifying the chipset on the motherboard, and downloading the latest version of the IDE driver form their website.
A good place to start is www.motherboards.org
or www.wimsbios.com
