There is on the 2nd IDE controller a DVD combo drive (set as Master) with a slave 52X CD-ROM drive chained to it. The DVD runs fine but the CDROM does not acknowledge a disc inserted.
System says it’s working fine (of course!) the file system saysthe drive is using the RAW file system with no media inserted, when there is media in there!
I’ve uninstalled the CDROM and restarted; for WINDOWS to reinstall it, which it does, but still has the same problem.
Instead of hearing the disk spin when inserted the drive makes “clicking” sounds and the power light goes out.
Problem exists in either WIN ME or XP.
