There is an internal cable that runs from the CD-ROM drive to the sound card - you may want to open your computer to make sure that this didn't come disconnected on either end. Without it, you won't hear anything from a CD.

well, i test for the audio cable by sticking in a music cd and if i hear it from my main speakers, i figure we got the audio cable. if i can only hear it from the headphone jack on the cd player, then no audio cable...
if you have your cable installed (have a look??) i suggest you have a look at the configuration of your multimedia devices in Control Panel. perhaps you need to set a different device to be your audio out device...

If you are on Win XP.
-> System properties
-> Hardware
-> Device Manager
-> Expand DVD/CD ROM
-> Right-click Samsung CD-RW, Properties
-> Go to the Properties Page
-> Check the box, Enable digital CD Audio for this CD-ROM Device.
-> Ok.
-> Run winamp and test.

Should be working. No need to fix any cable.

Oh, I I forgot to mention...
Before doing anything, check to see that you or any software accidentally muted or turn down the volume on your CD audio channel...
