Check in the control panel under system to see if the CD-ROM/RW drive is listed. If not open up the case and ensure the cables, both power and IDE or SCSI both ends and check the bios settings to make sure that the IDE channel didn't get disabled somehow. If it shows up in the bootup sequence and is still not appearing in Windows try using the add new hardware button in Control panel and let it do an autodetect. If that doesn't work you may have a bad CD/RW drive.

I have had the same problem with the same drive. One additional question. Do you have another CD-Rom connected in addition to the CD-RW? If you have another drive...Put your other drive on the secondary master and put the CD-RW drive on the primary slave. this worked for me. If you have just the CD-RW and you have it on the Secondadry master be sure the jumper is set to master. If you have it slaved be sure the jumper is set to slave. Also I installed the software LAST... Let me know if this helps. if you cannot acces the drive o the secondadry master, try to put it as a slave the the HDD.

Type in the run box, sysedit and go to your config.sys box and type in LASTDRIVE=Z on the very top of the box and then restart your computer and see if that works.

If you are on a network (or not) try assigning the CD-RW drive a permanent drive letter. Make sure it is an available drive letter and not one that is used by your network.

Goto system properties->device manager->left click on cdrom->right click on your CD-RW drive->then properties->then settings tab->assign the same letter in both the Start Drive Letter and the End Drive Letter.
