I have a Artec 24x10x40 burner. I had purchased some CD-R disks that are rated 1-32x. When I tried to record to them I get an error that says “Medium Speed Error”. It does not ruin the disk but it will not record it. I tried a 24x and it works just fine. Can you not run a CD rated for a higher speed in the drive? I understood that they were backward compatible. I have tired this with Roxio and Nero with same results. I am running Win XP, have 512K mem, 80 Gig harddrive, and a 1200mhz Athlon processor. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated since it is getting harder to find 24x disks.
