CD won?t find game

Have you tried using the CD in a different drive after reboot?

(That is, if you have multiple drives). Possibly, the drive is being locked or allocated in some way preventing it from use. Is the restart due to a crash? (I would assume so, from the sound of the problem). If that's the case, you may simply have to cold-restart. Either use the reset button, or power cycle the computer.

One other thing. Does this problem occur after playing ANY game and restarting, or just that one?

Yes I have a DVD & CD/RW but it does not matter what drive I have tried them both. No the computer does not lock it is when I shut down or switch logon that any game that uses a CD to play ask for the disk even thou in my computer it shows it as the right disk

I have reloaded the different games more than once and it had no effect on the ability to run after I reboot

You can reassign the drive letter between the 2 drives if it's searching for the other. Are you trying to play the games in a drive other than the one they were installed on, or did you swap out or remove any drives in the meantime?

This isn't anHP computer is it? I've been repairing a lot of CD ROM & CD/RW drives that have warped control boards that the lens base is jambing on in the center in HP puters after people leave a CD or DVD in the drive for any length of time. (A def. heat issue and really no fans to cool it in most HP's and others, not to mention poor design due to no support in the center of the board). A ten minute fix rather than replace the drive. I make them remove it and bring in the drive though or it would be cheaper to replace the drive.

Okay this happend to my grandfathers computer. I was because he installed new software and it for some reason messed with his cd rom. After I uninstalled the new software the CDrom worked fine. So I guess the question is have you installed any new programs or software lately? If so uninstall the software and see if the cd rom works.

No the CD drives are working fine for every thing(i.e. Music,Movies and Data) but games that ask for the CD to run the game will not.
