cdrom won't read burned cd r/w cd

By cheezer ·
I have a buslink 16x10x40 usb 2.0 cd r/w, I used incd to format the cd r/w and the buslink cd r/w to copy pictures and files to. When I try to read from my i/o magic cd which is cd r/w compatable It doesn't read the data. Will I have to update my cdrom drivers? I have nero burning rom as my software.

Thanks,
Jose'

You need to have UDF reader software installed on the system that you desire to read CD-RW disks on.

There should be a file on the Nero installation CD to install a UDF reader on any compatable system.
If you can't find it on the CD, you should be able to download from their website.
There is also a free reader available at www.roxio.com

One note;
CD-RW disks are not an archival media.
You should use them only for temporary backs-ups and file transfers.
I have had CD-RW disks "loose" their format.
I now make duplicate CD-RW backups that I keep until I create multiple CD-R back-ups of any file.

when you finished burning your disc was it converted to allow access by all drives or left open so you could add more files, in which it won't be readable in a cdrom only cdr & cdrw drives

I have seen cases where the actual CD media was the problem. When using one brand, certain types of data could not be read by another CD-ROM drive. Recording the same data on another brand of CD media worked fine.

I left the disk open so I could add more files later. Can anyone tell me if I'm able to write protect,and write enable a cd r/w. I downloaded the UDF reader and it works good.

Thanks again, I'm leaving this open so I can glean as much info as I can, this is my first experience with cd r/w.

There is one more thing you might not have considered. Some older CD Rom dricves will not read burned CDs. If you have a modern CD Rom, then disregard this post.
