Certificate on IAS server?

By tortoise99 ·
I am puzzled about the certificate needed on the IAS server. If I have the check box unchecked on my XP client to "check server validity" does the certificate on the IAS server still come into play? What are the advantates of having the IAS server have a certificate installed? If it's security, i'm not really concerned since on local LAN..

Security: Just like it says "check server validity"

the cert allows the client to be sure that they are talking to the real server, not some clone in a faraway land.

I'm pretty sure if you tell it not to check, then the cert is meaningless.

If you're using IAS for wlan authentication, you would want to use the cert.
