One of my application involves searching data from 1,000,000 records in an Oracle 8i database. The select statement involves sub-query and group-by. It may stores more records than that, say 1,000,000,000 records in coming days.
However, it halted. I tried to copy the SELECT statement into SQL*PLUS to run. Halted again!
This meant I had to improve my DBMS’ performance to solve this problem.
Now I find the following solutions;
1. Indexing
2. Make a table to store the result of SELECT statement
3. Database Aggregation
What do you think?
