I have a Cisco 1720 router, with a WIC-1ENET card installed in the WIC0 position.
I would like to install it between my cable modem and Linksys WRT54GL (broadband router).
I did buy the Cisco router unpopulated, and then bought and fitted the WIC-1ENET card. I think I read somewhere that the IOS on the router had to be a certain revision in order for the Ethernet card to work. Is this true and if so can anyone let me know what revision it should be and how to get hold of it?
The IOS version on the router is 12.3 (10b).
Also do I have enough with the routers 10/100 Ethernet RJ45 connector and the 10BT Ethernet on the WIC-1ENET card to do what I want?
I am a beginner with Cisco and would really appreciate any help, can anyone let me know how to configure the router IOS to protect my network or where to find the information necessary?
