Cisco ASA Analysis

by zps6j2102 . Updated 16 years, 10 months ago

Hello!

I am a security analyst, and do not have direct access to our firewalls. Configurations are provided to me by the Networking group via a file into which a “show run” was dumped.

I have been using Stefan Frei’s excellent Zoompix to analyze these PIX configurations.

However, we are now switching to ASA, and Zoompix cannot read this new format.

Does anyone know:
1) of another utility like Zoompix, which can read ASA dumps?

2) of a utility that can convert an ASA configuration to PIX format (for the sole purpose of feeding it into Zoompix)?

3) If Stefan might be planning an upgrade (I’m polling the ‘Net before bothering him – if I can reach him at all)?

BTW, this utility is written in Perl and is mostly in clear-text. It seems well written, but it is way beyond my ability to modify it (modification is specifically permitted, under the GNU license). So, any Perl/Cisco gurus out there interested in taking a whack at it?

Thanks!
-Paul

P.S.: Zoompix is here: http://www.techzoom.net/download/zoompix-download.en
