Cisco PIX 501 Firewall

By lawrencem ·
Hi everyone,
I have a client who has a Cisco PIX 501 Firewall. The client is facing the following problem
He cannot remember his login information for the PDM.
He can get into the console but cannot reset to factory defaults.
I have serached Cisco websites for informations and directions to perform this task but was not successful.
Is there anyone here that had this problem and was able to reset the Cisco PIX 501 Firewall to factory defaults? If so can you help me help my client?
Thanks a bunch!

The idea behind the PIX Series is not to allow this to happen

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Cisco PIX 501 Firewall

To prevent unauthorised entry.

All I can think of doing besides ringing Cisco for a fix is to try flashing the Firmware and hopefully that will return the router to the Factory Defaults if you don't already have the latest version installed.

If you do have the latest version maybe you could try loading one of the older versions and then reloading the latest version that you've just downloaded and not use the copy that you've saved when you installed the older version.

Sorry but if that doesn't work I think that Cisco is your only alternative for an answer, they should have a back door into the unit though they may require the unit to be returned to them for that to be performed.

George and Dave ought to have.......

by CG IT In reply to That's not correct

George and Dave Davis ought to have their own section after TechRepublic Pro strickly for Cisco stuff. By far both have provided a wealth of info on working with Cisco products and Cisco IOS.

Now how about an excel confi sheet for a 2511 Access router.

I'm going to try and start adding some stuff for other vendors too in addition to more Cisco content. It's just a market reality that most people have Cisco equipment for switches and routers.

Most of the businesses I've been into their equipment rooms use Cisco.

In any event, still think Dave and you ought to have a section it's tough finding everyting.
