    Cisco PIX Firewall Problem

    Locked

    by kent.yap ·

    Hi,

I am currently having problems with my Cisco PIX Firewall, I am wanting to VPN to another network from my work network. When I use Cisco VPN client I can get a connection to the network I am wanting to reach. The problem is that once the VPN connection is successful I cant remote desktop to the computers on the network. Could someone tell me if there is a setting that I need to configure on the router/firewall to allow me access.

    Thanks
    Kent

      Which network?

Which network are you trying to RDP into? The client’s local network, or the VPN?

If its the client’s local, you maybe out of luck since Windows loves to send traffic across only one connection (your VPN) thereby preventing local communication from working well (sometimes).

For the VPN, you need to setup atleast an access-list and group, and maybe a static statement to send the traffic to the server.

        DNS?

Are you trying to remote in using the computer name or IP. Could be that you specified an incorrect IP of the internal DNS server. Try it by IP and go from there..
