Cisco RIP routing loops

by pv.consulting . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

Greetings all, i have an issue that i believe to be small. here is some background of the network i maintane: i have a datacenter that houses 1, 100 meg T-3 pipe that support my 800+ stores. i have 3 cisco 2800 routers installed. one has just GRE tunnels created, 2 are vpn routers. to reach my stores, they all vpn into one of the 2 routers and i create static routes from the vpn ip to the lan ip of the store. Before, i only had 1 vpn router installed, so the current processes were fine. but now i have updated my vpn script for the stores to swap between the old vpn router and the new. so here is where the problem lies: if i have a store connecting to the old vpn router, where its static route was created, everything connects just fine. however, if it swaps to the new router, a trace route shows that it loops between the router the vpn is connected and the old router were the static route is created. im using the “redistribut static” command in my rip configuration, but that is not helping. is there a way for me to resolve this routing loop?
