Citrix Printing

By adembo ·
Could someone kindly tell me how Citrix does printing. We have several people who connect to a citrix server and need to print from the documents they are accessing on the citrix server. They select the printer, which is labeled something similar to \\computername\printername. So its for me to assume the server is sending the job back to the computer here in our office. The citrix server must have all appropriate drivers for all printers correct? Why would it be sending it back in a PCL 4 format?

To setup network printing through Citrix here's what you do.
1. open up the Citrix Management Console and right click on Printer Management, select Import Network Print Server, enter the necessary credentials. will import all of your network printers.
2. next you'll need top load the printer driver for the printer you want to give access to onto the Citrix server itself. If successfully loaded it should now appear when you click on Drivers under Printer Management in the CMC.
3. now click on the Printers and select the printer that you want them to print to and give them the rights to print.
In regards to the rest of your question, the server will send the print job to the network print server and then onto which ever print you have selected it to print to, and yes, you need to have the printer drives loaded onto the Citrix server. As far as it sending it back in PCL4 format, make sure that the network print server has the right driver for the printer. Hope this helps.
