    cmd.exe
The application failed to initialise properly (0xc0000412). Click on OK to terminate the application.
    OK

An IBM notebook installed with Win2K Professional and some general applications always return the above error message on shut down. Any pointers to approach this problem. Many thanks in advance.

Well, cmd.exe is the Command Prompt file, so you either have Command Prompt running, or something else has it running, and it does not like being shut down.
My first thought is, do a full virus scan, just in case there is a trojan running in the background, using an invisible Command Prompt to do its thing.

      hope this helps

The version of the file may need updating ,therefore try updating the Service Pack, which may solve your problem
