cmd.exe parameters

By BDigital ·
Hello, while doing router upgrades for various locations, I need 7 cmd.exe windows up running ping sessions to make sure the various switches and other devices connect. I don't do much with batch files, but I am trying to find out if there is a way that I can have all 7 cmd windows open in specific locations on my second monitor so that way I don't have to open each window individually and move it to a different location. I know this is a matter of convenience but I would really like to know if it is possible.

You can't do what you want in a batch file... A programming language yes...

If you open a set of ping windows -

start ping 192.168.1.1 -t
start ping 192.168.1.2 -t
etc

from a batch file, Winders will cascade them and not tile them. There is no way to position the windows. I searched for this for a similar simple batch for my Network guys.

A useful tip, by the way, is to put a window title on each of the batch file lines:

start "Pinging 192.168.1.1" ping 192.168.1.1 -t

Neil :)
