Yes, you can have up to four com ports. An example of more than one would be using two modems (shotgunning). Just make sure the addresses aren’t the same.

Yes. Make sure the addressing does not conflict. In addition, there are vendors who supply a single peripheral card that can provide you with multiple serial interface (com) ports through an interface module. These cards can also be installed in tandemto even increase that number.

Yes, you can have four com ports in your system, depending on the brand of your MOB, you might already have two integrated in the MOB, to this you can add a Multi I/O card or a serial card with one or two ports, if you are in the need to have all ports enable make sure the irq’s and IO address are set correctly.

I recently worked on a networked print/internet server that had 4 LPT ports as well as 2 physical and 6 virtual COM ports for a total of 8! Just remember to pay attention to possible conflicts through Device Manager or frequent stalls (not the normal Windows ones, mouse suddenly stops working even though you haven’t connected to the internet).
