I have 3 computers I am networking.
computer 1:
Desktop
Windows xp
Connected via ethernet cable
Comp 2:
Desktop
Windows xp
Connected via Ethernet cable
Comp 3:
Laptop
Windows Xp
connected to internet via wireless
connected to printer via Ethernet cable
I have to unplug the ethernet cable to connect to the internet on my laptop.
I have to plug ethernet cable to connect to networked printer.
After I have unplugged ethernet cable and then plug it back in to print, I have to reinstall printer software to be able to print to network printer from my laptop.
Quest 1: Why can’t I connect to the internet from my laptop thru wired (ethernet) connection? Do I have to bridge connections?
Quest 2: Why do I lose my ability to use network printer when I unplug the ethernet cable and then plug it back in? The printer is an HP new printer with built in print server for ethernet connections (and wireless – but the printer won’t let me use wired and wireless server at same time)
What am I missing here???
