Compaq laptop(Armada 1750) Not Booting U

By bhaviklshah ·
Upon reboot, everytime it goes into setup. If I try to come out of setup, it reboots again - i.e. I can't start the OS. If I run the test - it gives error (Process -Failed CMOS Interrupt Test) Error no 108-02 on Device CPU (Main System). If I run the system setup etc. It starts the computer and hangs on "Finding Devices - 100% completed" (I can move the Hourglass - but I can't do anything else). How do I reboot this computer? How to bypass this CMOS thing?

If you look on page XXVII of the preface in your manual, you will notice that the recommended action for this error code is replace the system board.
This is not reasonable in your case.
This problem is probably caused by dirt/coffee/whatever falling down inside the laptop, and causing a partial electrical short.
Remove the keyboard (carefully) and clean the insides of the laptop.
Particulary check the area around the CMOS (BIOS) chip.
Regards, Chris

Sometimes when this occurs with the Compaq Laptops you can remove the battery for at least a couple of minutes, and replace it and it will stop the looping.

Better still, change the CMOS battery altogether with a new one. After about 3-4 years, these batteries do eventually run down to the point where they are not saving CMOS data, thus the Interrupt Test failure.

And also explains why it keeps checking for new hardware every boot-up.
