compaq presario 5712- Intel 810 chipset celeron processor

By rlacontojr ·
Rescently replaced hard drive, upgraded ram, and replaced bad 3v cmos battery. Ran quickrestore cd's and everything was almost fine. Well, now the computer will not boot at all, nothing , no bios, no compaq logo. The floppy drive has not worked since I began working on this computer; or any floppy drive for that matter, and still does not work. Should I suspect a problem with the main board or power supply. And if so how do I check these components.

If I remember correctly Compaq reserves a small partition on the HDD for the CMOS information (thought they might have stopped). There may be some type of flash file that you have to download from the COMPAC site. This info in not on the restore CD. It has been a few years since I have repaired COMPAC. I would check it out before further troubleshooting. Sorry that I am not much use. Here is a link that may be helpful.
