Hi all, how do i compress data on dlt tapes, im using arcserve 9 and 40/80G DLT tapes and i backup a server with 53G of data, each time when the backup reach 40G it ask for another tape, i thought the tapes should be 80G compressed i tried to play around with arcserve but i get no joy, please help maybe im doing something wrong

80MG is max possible, if all your data is text such as office documents then you should be ok. But if you include pictures, music, ZIP or program files then the compression rate will drop as those types of files are already compressed. You need to analyze the type of data you are backing up to get accurate backup storage sizes.
