I have a computer that is hooked up to my router and is getting an internet signal. Other programs have updated (AVG included) and Skype is connected. When I open IE, it only says “Detecting proxy settings” and holds tight. Here is what I have done so far to fix this issue:
Installed and ran AVG and reboot
ipconfig/reset and /renew
Ran Winsock XP Fix 1.2 and reboot
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log
and reboot
Installed IE7
Have done both settings for LAN in options (Auto detect and unchecked)
The computer will not allow me to install MalwareBytes in or out of safe mode or even in diagnostic startup through msconfig.
I have never ran into this problem before, and I have had many people say that it sounds like malware, but I can’t get a malware scanner to run on the machine.
I need some help with this
