computer name same as server name in active directory

By sorak_maccaolick ·
Hi!

what if i've been dumb enough to use the server name on a new computer...

I corrected this now... But now Active Directory, domain controller and Exchange are nuts!

In event viewer I this error:
MSExchangeSA, Event ID 1005, Unexpected error Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Facility: LDAP Provider ID no: 8007052e Microsoft Exchange System Attendant occurred. DSAccess, Event ID 2114, Process INETINFO.EXE (PID=162. Topology Discovery failed, error 0x80040952.

Any help?

Check DNS

by Monice In reply to computer name same as ser ...

Make sure there are no bad entries in DNS. Remove any entries with the server name in question pointing to the computer that was named in error. You may also need to do an "ipconfig /flushdns" at a command prompt on the computers/servers not able to reach AD or Exchange. Including the DCs and Exchange servers.

Good luck.
